George Everett

October 16, 1913 — June 17, 2007

George W. Everett, age 93 and a resident of Gulfport, MS, passed away at home on June 17, 2007.
Mr. Everett was born on October 16, 1913 in Nashville, TN to George Washington and Mary Washington Everett.
In 1932 he went to Ada, OK to attend East Central State Teacher's College where he met the love of his lifeâ₦Edith Marie Henshaw. He graduated with a B. S. Degree in Physics and English in1935.
In 1942 he joined the US Army Air Corps as a Civil Service Instructor. In 1947 he was transferred to Keesler Air Force Base as a radar instructor. He retired from the Air Force Reserves with the rank of Major.
Mr. Everett was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Gulfport and was an active Deacon and Elder. He was a 32ndDegree Mason, a member of the Gulfport Yacht Club, and Sunkist Country Club, where he was an avid golfer.
Mr. Everett continued his career living at 267 Pinewood Circle, until his retirement in January 1975. He made the remark """"I don't know how I ever had time to work now that I'm retired."""" He and his wife Edith enjoyed their family, their dear friends, and the joy of international travel.
Mr. Everett was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Edith Marie Henshaw Everett.
He is survived by his son, Charles (Cynthia) of Pascagoula, MS; grandson Philip, of Mobile, AL, granddaughter, Lauren Huggins (Van), of Covington, LA; and great-granddaughters: Hannah and Addison Huggins, of LA, plus many loving nieces and nephews from Oklahoma, Michigan, Alabama, and London, England.
The family would like for all of his family and friends to join them in the Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 21, 2007 at THE RIEMANN FAMILY'S Riemann Memorial Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy 49N, Gulfport. Visitation is from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow at Southern memorial Park, Biloxi. You may sign the online guestbook at www.riemannfamily.com.
