Gary Dean Spooner

Gary Dean Spooner, born on September 28, 1951, in Gulfport, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at home in Bivins, Texas on November 26, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. He leaves behind a legacy marked by dedication, love, and cherished memories.

Gary dedicated 15 years of his life to the U.S Army, proudly serving his country and earning the respect of many. Following his military service, he took on the rewarding career of a skilled electrician, retiring from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 903 in Gulfport, MS. His commitment to learning was evident as he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Electronic Engineering along with Master's Degrees in both Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. Gary's thirst for knowledge and his ability to apply it practically exemplified his extraordinary character.

A devoted family man, Gary found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was the loving husband to Kelly (nee Culin) Spooner and proud father to Joshua Spooner, Sophia Spooner, Dominick Spooner, Bryce Culin, Brendan Culin and Abby (Justin) Broussard. His heart overflowed with pride, and he took great joy in being a grandfather to Amethyst (Steven) Cornista, Trystan Spooner, Jayden Hinote, McKenzy Hinote, Pyper Broussard, Landon Culin, and Wyatt Culin, and a great-grandfather to his favorite 'Princess' Sapphire Cornista. Gary had a unique talent for spoiling his loved ones, especially his "princesses" and puppies, always bringing warmth and laughter to his home.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.  

Beyond his professional achievements and family life, Gary was a devoted member of the Calvary Holiness Church in Fouke, Arkansas, where he contributed his time and talents to his community. His hobbies often included hunting and fishing, enjoying nature's beauty and taking in the quiet moments of life.

Gary's passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his son Nathan Spooner, his parents Calvin and Mary (nee Jarrell) Spooner; his sister, Evelyn Bonvillian; his brother, James Spooner; and his sister, Ruth Goodrich. The love he shared with them will always be remembered, and he is now reunited with them in eternal peace.

In this difficult time, we gather to honor Gary Dean Spooner—not just as a magnificent individual but as a loving husband, a devoted father, a doting grandfather, and a cherished friend. His spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched, ensuring that his light will never fade.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 13872 Lemoyne Blvd, West Jackson County from 11:00 AM until the time of services at 1:00 PM.  Interment with honors will be conducted under the auspices of the US Army will be held at Biloxi National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials in his name can be made to any animal rescue foundation or to the Disabled American Veterans.

Let us remember if Gary were here today, he would tell everyone to 'get right' so that he would see you in Heaven.
