Garlon Allen "Buzzy" Pemberton, Sr.

Garlon Allen “Buzzy” Pemberton, Sr., age 75, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026.

Born on July 18, 1950, in Corpus Christi, Buzzy was a lifelong resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, a place he dearly loved and proudly called home.

Buzzy graduated from Gulfport East High School in 1969, where he was an elite athlete and set numerous football records that remained a source of pride throughout his life. He went on to study at University of Mississippi.

An avid golfer, Buzzy cherished any spare moment spent on the golf course. Whether enjoying time with friends or simply soaking in a quiet afternoon outdoors, the game brought him great happiness.

Above all, Buzzy’s love for the Lord was unwavering and evident in the way he lived. His faith guided him, strengthened him, and was an inspiration to those blessed to know him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Garland Lafayette Pemberton and Anna Marie Allen Pemberton; his sister, Ruth Sharon Pemberton Surratt; and his brother, Richard Dean Pemberton.

He is survived by his sister, Elizabeth “Beth” Kharon Pemberton Cartee; his daughter, Allison Pemberton Sala (Alan); his son, Garlon Allen Pemberton, Jr. (Kaysha); and his cherished grandchildren, Laney, Tucker, and Tripp Sala, and Hayden and Parrish Pemberton. His family was his greatest pride and deepest joy.

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Woodland Village Memory Care for making his last year so joyful and filled with love. Special thanks as well to Gentiva Hospice for providing comfort and compassionate care during his final days.

The family will hold a private service to honor and celebrate his life.
