Freida Thompson, age 88, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025. She was born on December 18, 1936, in Meridian, Mississippi, where her life began as a bright, determined, and deeply faithful soul.
In 1970, Freida married the love of her life, Harold Lee Thompson, and together they blended their families into one—what began as two separate households became a single, unified family held together by love, humor, and decades of shared memories. Harold preceded her in death in 2011, and their reunion is surely a joyous one.Freida dedicated her life to education and spent her career as an English teacher—one of the greats. Her classroom was a place where students felt challenged, encouraged, and truly seen. Teaching wasn’t just her profession; it was her calling, and she poured her heart into every lesson.
A woman of profound faith, Freida was a devoted member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, where she was deeply involved in ministry, service, and community. Her church was her second home. She lived out her faith daily—through prayer, compassion, and the way she treated every person she met. Her walk with God guided her life, and her devotion was an example to all who knew her.
Freida is survived by her children: Kathryn Aguirre, John Ratcliff, Mark Ratcliff, David Thompson, Gary Thompson, and Michael Thompson. She is preceded in death by her beloved children Dianne Clinton and Laurel Martin. She is also preceded in death by her sister, Francis Broussard, and is survived by her niece, Sharon Pelaz, who held a special place in her heart. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her grandchildren: Angel (Steve) Pierce, Laurie Campbell, Danny (Sherry) Pratt, Rebecca Galvan, Candy (Tracy) Morgan, Stephanie (Keith) Lowery, Jeremy (Christy) Clinton, Jennifer Ratcliff, Ana (Wes) Yeomans, Christopher Aguirre, and Oscar Aguirre.
