Franklin Ladner

Franklin Ladner, age 89, of Saucier,  peacefully passed away on May 21, 2024, surrounded by his loving niece and her family. Born on May 19, 1935, in the same town he called home his entire life, Franklin was known to many as a gentle soul with a deep passion for gardening. 

Franklin’s love for nature was evident from a young age. As a young man, he spent countless hours in his family’s fields, cultivating a small garden that would become the foundation of a lifelong hobby for his family.  His green thumb and nurturing spirit transformed his home into a local haven of beauty and tranquility, where neighbors and friends often gathered to admire his meticulous work on his farm.  

Franklin spent over 40 years working as a Longshoreman at the Port of Gulfport, a career that provided him with the stability to pursue his true passion. Retirement offered Franklin the opportunity to dedicate more time to his family.  .  

Franklin’'s legacy is one of kindness, patience, and an unyielding love for the simple pleasures of life. His garden, which he meticulously tended until the very end, stands as a living testament to his dedication and passion.

Franklin is survived by his children, Thomas Ladner, Marlon Ladner, Janet Ladner, and Charlie Ladner,  numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren,  a brother Archie (JessIe Mae) Holland.   He is also remembered by his numerous nieces/ nephews and their children.    He is also remembered by his lifelong friend, Sherri Triplett. He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Ladner; step-father, Simon Holland; mother, Nettie Holland;  sisters, Laverna Gaughf, Charlene Ladner, Faye Rouse; and grandson Kyle Ladner.  

A memorial service celebrating Franklin’s life will be held at a later date.
