Frankie Mildred Breland, age 97, passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2026. She was born on January 14, 1929, in Perry County, Mississippi.
Frankie was preceded in death by her parents, H.Q. and Bertie Breland; her husband, Bura B. “B.B.” Breland; and her daughters, Brenda Breland and Patti Breland.
She is survived by her daughters, Vicki Silva (Eddie) and Tina Crighton (Chris); her sister, Fay Holder; and her constant companion, Sassy.
Frankie adored her daughter, Vicki an Tina, their husbands, and Sassy. She considered Eddie and Chris to be sons rather than sons-in-law. Shortly after graduating from high school, she married B.B. They shared 73 wonderful years together and traveled the world side by side.
Although she grew up during the Great Depression, Frankie always shared happy memories of her childhood. Teaching was not only profession, but also a gift she carried throughout her life. If you were fortunate enough to know her, she likely taught you something along the way.
Frankie lived and worked in Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, India, and Africa. During her 97 years, she traveled to all 50 states and many countries around the world. She loved sharing stories of her adventures and enjoyed teaching, crocheting, pottery, reading, traveling, and Saints football.
Her family is forever grateful to her caregivers, Oma Odem, Martha Williams, Jennifer Stewart, and Danielle Paull; her many friends; and her constant companion, Sassy. The family also extends special thanks to Dr. Boyd Benefield, the staff of Orange Grove Medical Specialties, and Vital Caring Home Health/Hospice for their care and support.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your local humane society or St. Vincent de Paul Pharmacy, 715 Division Street, Biloxi, MS 39530.
Visitation will be on Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 8:30 - 9:30 am at St. James Catholic Church, 366 Cowan Road, Gulfport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 am in the church. Interment will be in Biloxi National Cemetery.
The Riemann Family Funeral Home, Gulfport, is serving the family.
