Frances (Fran) Saucier Newman, 87, formerly of Gulfport, MS, died peacefully at her home in Slidell, LA on Friday, March 11, 2016, in the presence of God and family. Born on January 26, 1929, in Electric Mills, MS. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Virginia Saucier; brothers, Coy Lee Saucier, Everett Saucier and Bill Saucier; sister, Kathryn Stegall and her beloved husband of 63 years, Richard Bert Newman, Sr.
Fran's greatest joy was living life with her Bert, whether it was running the golf pro shops where he was country club pro, traveling with friends to play the nation's special courses, or praising his back yard grilling. She will be best remembered for her love of laughter shared with special friends, life-long friends and family. She will be cherished for the love, hospitality and memorable meals she provided to all who entered her doorway.
Survivors include her children, Nancy D'Angelo, Jan Rasche, and Richard Newman, Jr. (Marsha); grandchildren, Jim Rasche (Buffy), Charles D'Angelo (April), Scott Newman (Barron), Ricky Newman (Kelli), and Jessica Rasche; nine great-grandchildren and numerous devoted nieces, great-nieces, nephews and great-nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations are made to either Baptist Children's Home in Jackson, MS or Canon Hospice in Covington, LA. The family would also like to thank Canon Hospice for their excellent and compassionate care.
