Frances Gily

Frances “Gily” passed away July 24, 2026. Though she made her home in River Ridge, Louisiana, Biloxi, Mississippi remained close to her heart as her lifelong hometown.

Frances was known for her quick wit and a laugh that filled every room she was in — often paired with a joke or two that skewed a little crude, delivered with perfect comedic timing and zero apology. She had a gift for making people feel at ease, and an even bigger gift for taking care of them. Whether it was family, friends, or anyone who needed a hand, Frances showed up. Caring for others wasn’t just something she did; it was who she was.

Life wasn’t always easy for Frances, and she carried her share of struggles. But those who knew her best remember her not for her hardships, but for her heart — for the way she made people laugh, the way she loved fiercely, and the way she never stopped showing up for the people she cared about.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Natalie and Melvin Bell, and her sister, Lou Ann O’Bannon.

Frances is survived by her niece, Robyn (Jeff) Kirby, and her great-nephews, Nathan and Samuel, and great-niece, Lily — all of whom she loved dearly and who loved her right back.
