Floyd L. Streeper, age 89, of Gulfport passed away June 25, 2013 in Gulfport.
He was born in Jones County, Iowa on August 21, 1924. He married Ethel Hachmeister on February 25, 1945. They had two sons, Donald and Gary Streeper.
Floyd enlisted in the Army Air Force on December 9, 1942. He was assigned to the 23rd Bomb Sqdn., 5th Bomb Grp., 13th Air Force, January 1944. He flew missions from Guadalcanal, Munda, New Georgia, Admiralty Islands, Wakde, Noemfoor, and Morotai. He completed 38 missions before returning stateside in February 1945. He was discharged in September 1945 and re-enlisted in November 1947 making a career of the Air Force in the field of Aircraft electronics retiring on August 1, 1969. In 1983 he worked with Harold Hofman to organize the first 5th Bomb Grp. Reunion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilford and Mamie Streeper, one brother, and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Ethel H. Streeper; son, Donald Streeper and his wife Wendy and his daughter Megan of Sonoma, CA; and son, Gary Streeper and his partner Doris Simmons of Gulfport, MS.
The funeral service will be held Monday, July 1, 2013 at 11:00 am, with a visitation one hour prior, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, MS. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
