Floyd Landry, Jr.

December 14, 1952 — September 23, 2017

Floyd Joseph Landry, Jr. of Pass Christian, Mississippi, was born in New Orleans on December 14, 1952.  He passed away on September 23, 2017, at the age of 64 in New Orleans, after a short illness.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved parents Floyd and Josie Landry, his loving wife Deana, his three brothers Bobby (Lisa), Kerry (Linda), and Wayne (Riki), his sons Ryan (Yessica) and Jason (Elizabeth), his stepdaughters Ashleigh and Carolyn Mullins, his three grandchildren, Nashia, Brock, and Mia, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Floyd graduated from St. Bernard High School in 1970, before going on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Southeastern Louisiana in 1974.  He went to work for Shell Oil Company immediately following graduation, and he spent 33 fulfilling years with the company before retiring in 2007.
Work took Floyd from New Orleans to Houston to Traverse City, Michigan and back, before he eventually settled in Pass Christian. He was an active member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary for nearly 23 years, where he taught boating safety classes, assisted in search and rescue missions, and helped in training exercises for the active duty military, among other duties.  He also sang with the Coast Chorale, and was both proud and humbled to have been able to sing at Carnegie Hall in 2015.  Floyd was an active member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, serving on the parish council, singing in the choir, and serving on the building committee.  He was also an avid golfer, teeing off before sunrise three days a week.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 30, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Pass Christian, Mississippi.  Visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.  Interment will be at St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery in St. Bernard, Louisiana, at 2:30 p.m.  There will be a rosary service on Friday, September 29, at 6:00 p.m. in the church.  Memorial donations may be made to the Coast Chorale, 19026 Highway 603, Kiln, MS 39556, as this organization brought Floyd so much joy during his time singing with them.
