Floyd Byrd, Jr., 79, of Gulfport, Mississippi, succumbed to cancer at his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, August 21, 2013.
Floyd is survived by his wife, Carolyn of 34 years; sister, Imogene Gamble of Jonesboro, AR; daughter, Suzanne (Jack) McCray of Benton, AR; son, Stephen (Clarice) Byrd of Texas City, TX; son, Thomas (Jennifer) Kealhoffer of Seattle, WS; daughter, Kimberly (Rick) Plaisance of Gulfport, MS; and loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family. Floyd was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all.
Floyd was a retired Air Force SMSGT, recipient of the Air Force Commendation Award and served in the Korean and Vietnam conflicts.
A special thank you to the St. Joseph Hospice in Picayune for their loving care and support. Also thank you to Riemann Funeral Home for all of the arrangements.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd. in Gulfport on Saturday, August 24, 2013, with a memorial service to immediately following at 2:00 p.m. Floyd will be interred at the National Cemetery in Biloxi, Mississippi with military honors in a private ceremony.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Hospice, 722 West Canal St, Picayune, MS 39466.
