Florence H. Hopkins, 87, of Ocean Springs, passed away Monday, June 18, 2018 in Ocean Springs.
Mrs. Hopkins was a native of Johnstown, New York and has been a long-time resident of Ocean Springs. She and her husband owned and operated a service station in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. She enjoyed spending time with her family, spending time on walks and in the outdoors and going to garage sales and thrift stores. She was an Independent Baptist. She will be remembered for being a giving and selfless person.
Mrs. Hopkins was preceded in death by her husband, Elwood W. Hopkins; her sons, John W. Hopkins and Don P. Hopkins; her mother, Ruth Buyce Gallup; and her father, David Gallup.
Survivors include her son, James T. Hopkins of Gloversville, NY; daughter, Nancy L. Vedder of Ocean Springs; brother, Sherill Gallup of Florida; grandchildren, Angela M. Harter of Franklin, TN, Scott D. Strait of Ocean Springs, Crystal J. Vedder of Norwich, CT, Scott Zabawczuk of Gloversville, Tonya Ryle of Gloversville, Damion P. Perkins of Riverside, CA, Mike Hopkins of Gloversville and Sarah Jones of Mayfield, NY; great-grandchildren, Brandon Harter of Franklin, TN, Kirsten Harter of Greenwood, IN, Cheyana M. Van Osdell of Ocean Springs, Lacey L. Strait of Ocean Springs, Samantha N. Strait of Ocean Springs, Jenna R. Strait of Ocean Springs, Scott D. Strait, Jr. of Ocean Springs, Tianna Marie Stakley of Norwich, Zach Edwards of Northville, NY, Scotty Zabawczuk of Gloversville, Kevin Zabawczuk of Gloversville, Raquel Zabawczuk of Gloversville, Joey Ryle of Gloversville, Tyler Hart of Gloversville, Hunter Jones of Mayfield, Hailey Jones of Mayfield, Amelie Hopkins of Gloversville, Keegan Hopkins of Gloversville and Lola Hopkins of Gloversville; great-great-grandchildren, Nicholas Harter, Jacob Alexander Van Osdell (due in November), Manei J. Mrs. Hopkins will be laid to rest at Ferndale Cemetery in Johnstown, New York and there will be a Memorial Service held at a later date at Grace Independent Baptist Church, Ocean Springs.
