First Sergeant Chris Howard Stainbrook, U.S. Army Ret., of Biloxi, Mississippi, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026, at the age of 75. Born on March 19, 1950, in Pennsylvania, Chris dedicated 27 years of his life to the United States Army, serving his country with honor and distinction, including 2.5 tours in Vietnam. His commitment to his service was matched only by his commitment to his family and faith.
Chris was a man of many talents and interests; he found joy in photography, woodworking, car mechanics, and welding. He took pride in his ability to recite Army articles with precision, showcasing his deep understanding and respect for military service. His love for his family was evident in every aspect of his life, a sentiment that he expressed during every conversation by reminding everyone to embrace their faith: “Make sure you go to church, read your Bible, and I love you more."
Chris is survived by his loving children, Lynn, Hope, and Kevin, who will carry forth his legacy with pride. Known affectionately as Papa and Pop-Pop, he leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Will, Kristen (Pooky), Jamie, Kevin (Kap), Jacob, Brittney, Gabriel, and Jaxon. He is also survived by his 9 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Alberta Stainbrook, and his beloved wife, Fay, with whom he shared 48 years of marriage.
Friends are invited to join the family for visitation and services on Friday, January 23, 2026, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi, MS. Visitation will be for 30 minutes, beginning at 11:00 a.m. and the funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. Following the service, the procession will depart going to Biloxi National Cemetery, where Mr. Stainbrook will be laid to rest with military honors rendered by the U. S. Army.
