Fionnuala Majella Wilson

d. October 30, 2025

Long Beach

Fionnuala Majella Wilson born May 9, 2007, passed away October 30, 2025, in Mobile, AL.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Finian; grandparent, Dave Wilson; and great-grandparents, Paul and Alice Carrubba.

She is survived by her mother Amy; brother, Sullivan; sister, Tallulah; grandparents, Paula and Mike Spears; cousin, Renna; her father, Luke; and grandmother, Sharon Wilson; and many aunts, uncles, cousin and friends who love her dearly and will miss her tremendously.

When Fionnuala came into our lives eighteen years ago, we were repeatedly told, having Trisomy 18 – Edwards Syndrome – she could not possible live. Eighteen years later, we have been told many times by those in the medical field, she is a miracle and lived as long as she did only because of the prayers and the exceptional loving care given her by her primary care givers – her mother, brother, sister and grandparents.

Fionnuala was a blessing and a teacher. Doctors tell us they have been able to help other sick children because of what Fionnuala has taught them.

Fionnuala always had a smile on her beautiful face which was contagious. Her favorite toys were Sophie, the giraffe, and her floppy doll Goofy. She loved music, especially her brother Sully singing to her. Her favorite group of singers was the St. Thomas Choir.

A true gift from God – a sweet child – never complained. She brought great joy and laughter to anyone who met her. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her, especially her mama, brother sister and grandparents.

The family would like to thank Dr. David Reeves and the entire medical team at USA Women’s and Children’s Hospital PICU in Mobile, AL for all the love and care given her all the years of her life, especially her first doctors, Doctor Omar Sanchez, Doctor Christina Gavralita and Doctor Rosa Vidal, as well as all the doctors and nursing staff who took care of her and were wonderful to her family. We were told everyone may not know the entire staff but the entire staff in PICU knew and loved “Fi Fi”. She was a breath of fresh air.

Fionnuala did not have any children but continues to give life by being an organ donor.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to please make donations to Ronald McDonald House in Mobile AL, or St. Thomas the Apostle Society of Saint Vincent de Paul in Long Beach, MS, or USAH Children’s & Women’s Bridge Program – University of South Alabama, in Mobile.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3 pm, Monday, November 3, 2025, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 720 E Beach Blvd, Long Beach. Interment will be in Long Beach City Cemetery.
