On Thursday, December 28, 2017, Evelyn Jo Carroll Bowen was given her angel wings.
Mom, MawMaw, JoJo was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Martha Anderson Carroll of Howison, MS, and her loving husband, Donald Bowen, three sisters and four brothers.
She is survived by a son, Gary Shaw (Cathy); one sister, Verda Mae Shaw; one grandson, Chris Shaw (Angie); one granddaughter, Kim Shaw; great granddaughters Madeline and Jessica; great grandsons, Stone and Josh and great-great-granddaughters, Mallory and Riley; great-great-grandsons, Micah and Landon and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and even great-great nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was raised in Howison MS (a community of Saucier and attended Saucier Consolidated School (1-12 grades). She loved sewing, crochet, baking her famous friendship cakes and tidbits. Her ceramics were her highlight and she loved her ceramic shoppe families and the times spent creating her masterpieces, which she painted with love as gifts to each of us.
Summer vacations were spent traveling to visit family and most likely with her great niece Mona in tow. Calhoun, Georgia was always on the agenda to visit her in laws. Calhoun will be her final resting place alongside of the love of her life, Don. After his death in 1975, she said there could never be anyone else, and there wasn't. She lived life happy and loving every minute of every day making others smile with her cakes and cookies or ceramic gifts or that contagious smile and positive attitude. So today, do not cry because she passed away, smile because she is happy and home with the love of her life and Jesus.
Visitation will be on Saturday, January 6, 2017, from 1 - 3 pm at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport. A memorial service will be at 3 pm in the funeral home chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church of Orange Grove, 15486 Orange Grove Road, Gulfport, MS 39503.
