Eva Jewel Morgan, a long time resident of Gulfport, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at the age of 93. She was preceded in death by her husband Maurice C. Morgan, Sr.; her parents Beuford and Eva Lee Whitlock Godwin; her sisters Elah, Olene and Agnes; and her brother James Roger.
Mrs. Morgan is survived by her children, M.C. ""Skeeter"" Morgan, Jr. (Catherine Abruzzese) and James I. ""Butch"" Morgan and her very good friend Jean Dombrowski. She was blessed with four grandchildren: Mike Morgan, Suzanne Morgan, Danny Morgan and Melissa Morgan Herndon (Michael); three great-grandchildren: Daniel Morgan (Linsey Harris), Christopher Morgan (Katie) and Wesley Herndon; and one great-great-grandchild Easton Morgan. All of her children and offspring are residents of Gulfport.
While on this earth, Jewel Morgan was known as a business woman through her ownership and operation of Morgan's Hardware on Pass Road and Morgan's ACE Hardware and Morgan's Rental Center in Norwood Village Shopping Center.
A Graveside Service will take place at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 16 at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Family and close friends are invited. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her name be made to either the Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra or the Harrison County Humane Society.
