Eugene Dewease

Eugene Dewease, Jr, age 87, of Gulfport, passed away on December 16, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loved ones and family.
Mr. Dewease was born in Lumberton, raised in Purvis and graduated from Purvis High School where he played football and baseball. He was an avid sports fan especially USM and all Gulfport High School Sports. He was a life member of the Scottish Rite in Hattiesburg, and was a faithful member of Handsboro Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Mr. Dewease served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Dewease, Sr and Daisy Coale, 3 brothers, Elbert Dewease, Willie Dee Dewease, and Robert Dewease.
Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Doris Dewease, a daughter, Beverly Gaston, a son, Glen (Diane) Dewease, 2 sisters, Bobbie Davis and Cecile McCardle, 1 brother, Don (June) Dewease, 4 grandchildren, Wendy (Steve) Rocha, Chad Gaston, Trent Locher, and Lance Locher, 4 great-grandchildren, Trey and Olivia Rocha, Hartley and Jax Gaston, and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 20, 2016, from 9:30 - 11 am at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport. The funeral service will be at 11 am in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Biloxi National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Handsboro Baptist Church, 1421 E Pass Rd., Gulfport, MS 39507.
