EUDITH TROY BAIRD, beloved grandmother, mother, and a true beacon of strength, passed away on March 10, 2026, at the age of 85, surrounded by her loved ones. Following a courageous battle with various cancers and a recent, hard-fought struggle with severe heart failure, she has finally found rest.
Born on February 18, 1941, in Houston, Texas, Eudith was known for her resilience, feistiness, and an unwavering love for her family. She was a pioneering woman in her career as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, working for Ochsner Foundation Hospital for over 30 years. Not many people can say that they were included in a National Geographic story, but Eudith can! During her adventure-filled lifetime, she enjoyed many hobbies such as clogging, sewing, and traveling across the country in her RV with her partner in crime, Ms. June Enmon.
A dedicated cancer survivor, she faced every medical hurdle with strength, defying odds and choosing to focus on joy rather than her health challenges. She lived life to the fullest and cherished every moment with her only grandson. She had the pleasure of seeing her grandson graduate high school and go to college, which are moments that she never thought she would reach.
She is survived by her loving family, including her son, James Dean Baird, Jr. of Gulfport, MS; her daughter-in-law, Jannezy Newby Baird of Gulfport, MS; her one and only grandson, James Dean Baird, III of Gulfport, MS; her cousin, Sanna Spears, of Hernando, MS; her cousin, Austa Rutherford Weaver, of Altamonte Springs, FL; her cousin Tim Hammers of Sardis, MS; her cousin Mike Hammers of Nashville, TN; her cousin Leslie Lee Crawford of Memphis, TN; her cousin Ricky Crawford of Hendersonville, TN; all who will forever hold dear her memory and her strong, fun-natured demeanor.
Eudith Troy Baird will be cremated as per her wishes and will be laid to rest alongside her first husband, James Dean Baird, Sr., and with her daughter, Troy Allison Baird at Bakers Chapel Cemetery in Hernando, MS. A private Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, April 5, 2026. She will be deeply missed and always lovingly remembered.
“She fought the good fight, she finished the race, she kept the faith.”
Riemann Family Funeral Home, Gulfport is assisting the family.
