Ethel McRae Meador, age 94, passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2016, at her home in Gulfport, MS.
Mrs. Meador was born in Meridian, MS, to James Thomas and Ludie Camp McRae. She was the last surviving member of the Enterprise High School Class of 1939. She and her late husband, Alfred Lamar Meador, moved the Gulf Coast in 1950 from Meridian. Mrs. Meador had several interesting careers that each lasted a decade including, The Dixie Press, Olin Aluminum, and the GSA Motor Pool at Stennis until her retirement. She held memberships in the Biloxi Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Gulfport Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, and was the Gulfport Chapter Mother of the Order of DeMolay in 1958-1959.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents; her siblings, Floy McLemore, Eloise Haag, Kathleen Levoronne, and Dr. J.T. McRae; and a son-in-law, Wayne Allen.
She is survived by her son, Alfred Lamar Meador, Jr. (Jane) of Laurel; her daughters, Marla Allen of Mayfield, KY, and Della LaCuesta (Rick) of Gulfport; six grandchildren, Jennifer Lyn Meador of Jackson, Alfred Lamar Meador, III (Heather) of San Antonio, Jeffrey Lamar Garner (Michelle) of Paducah, KY, Lenora Claire Womble (Bill) of Paducah, KY, Sammy Goff of Ocean Springs, and Shirley Letcher Lichte (William) of Gulfport; six great grandchildren; and her faithful feline companion of 17 years, LuLu.
The family expresses a heartfelt thank you to Shellie and Kare-in-Home Hospice for the loving care provided to Mrs. Meador and the family.
Private graveside services will be held at a later date, and RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, Gulfport, is serving the family. Memories may be shared at www.riemannfamily.com.
The family prefers memorials in her name be made to the charity of one's choice.
