Estella S. Hatten

November 3, 1944 — September 29, 2014

Ms. Estella S. Hatten, beloved daughter of Amaro and Francisca Saldana, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, September 29th, 2014. She loved spending time with her family and friends, and especially loved watching sports with her brother-in-law and sister, Bob and Maria Ochoa. She was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on November 3, 1944. She graduated with honors from Roy Miller High School in Corpus Christi. She was a two year student of Del Mar Junior college in Corpus Christi, where she pursued a degree in elementary education.
Estella was a resident of Biloxi, MS where she was a member of Temple Baptist Church. She loved going to church praising her God with her church family, and the Sunday fellowships and picnics. She especially loved being a part of the Children's Church service where her sister Maria, is the director. Estella was also a member of the Women's Missionary Auxiliary at the church where she participated in projects to raise funds for Missions, orphans, and those that needed to hear the message of Jesus Christ.
Estella was preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life, Stanley L. Hatten, whom she cherished with all her heart. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Amaro and Francisca Saldana, of Corpus Christi, TX, who left her a Godly legacy to follow, and her sister, Irene Saldana of Corpus Christi, TX. Estella is survived by her brother-in-law and sister, Bob and Maria Ochoa, of Biloxi, MS whom she adored dearly, as they cared for her in her later years of life, and they also considered it a blessing to take care of all of her needs; niece, Virginia McLaughlin and her husband Lee McLaughlin of Biloxi, MS; niece, Betty McBrain and her husband John McBrain of Flora, MS; nephew, Bobby Ochoa, Jr., of Boca Raton, FL; great-nephews, Brett McLaughlin, of Los Angeles, CA, Andrew McLaughlin, of Biloxi, MS, Bobby Ochoa, III and his fiancé Whitney McGruder, of Philadelphia, PA, Austin Ochoa, of New York State, and Garrett Ochoa, of Boca Raton, FL; great-nieces, Brittney McBrain, Breanna McBrain, of Flora, MS, and Ashley Taranto and her husband Jacob Taranto, of Biloxi, MS; great-grandnieces, Izabella McLaughlin of Biloxi, MS, and Amelia New of Hattiesburg, MS; cousin, Yvonne Aguilar and her husband Robert Aguilar, and their children, Hannah and Joseph, all of Corpus Christi, TX; uncle, Pete Ramirez of Corpus Christi, TX; and great-aunt Lala Salinas; cousins, David, Mary Lou, and Frankie, all of Chula Vista, CA.
We thank Dr. Sharon LaRose, Dennis and Anita Wallace, Yolanda Johnson, Teresa Humphrey and the many family members and friends, who loved and cared for Estella.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 1st, 2014, at Temple Baptist Church, 1860 Popps Ferry Road, Biloxi, MS at 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. ""A Celebration of Her Life"" will begin promptly at 2:00 p.m. followed by a burial service at Southern Memorial Park. Following the burial, a reception will be held at Temple Baptist Church to honor the life of Estella Hatten.
