Ernest Melvin

Ernest Charles Melvin, Jr., age 72, of Gulfport, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018.
Mr. Melvin was born in Biloxi to Ernest C. Melvin Sr. and Mehalie Tanner Melvin.  He served in the U.S. Coast Guard and retired as a communications instructor from the Civil Service at Keesler Air Force Base.  He was a member of Handsboro Baptist Church where he was very active in church activities.  He was a member of the Masonic Fellowship Lodge #636 in Biloxi.  He will be remembered as a loving husband and father and a spiritual man.
Mr. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Thomas G. Melvin and Donny Melvin.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sharon L. Melvin of Gulfport; children, Shannon Melvin Brown (Rob) of Gulfport, and Bryan Andrew Melvin (Teressa) of Gulfport; grandchildren, Amanda Vaughn, Chad Cordray, Jacob Cordray, Maddelyn Melvin, Amber Melvin, and Susan Melvin; and his great grandson, Grayson Vaughn.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 26, 2018, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, from 4:30 p.m. until the service at 6:00 p.m.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at Biloxi National Cemetery, at 10:00 a.m. with military honors to be rendered by the U.S. Coast Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Handsboro Baptist Church, 1421 E. Pass Rd, Gulfport, MS 39507.
