Erlene Childs McQuinn

October 27, 1932 — September 16, 2013

Erlene Childs McQuinn, 80, of Gulfport, passed away on Monday, September 16, 2013.
Mrs. McQuinn was born in Louisville, MS on October 27, 1932, to Ernest B. Childs, Sr. and Irene Watson Childs. She began working in the church as a 15 year old Bible school teacher, taught Sunday School, and worked with the youth in many different churches. She worked on different committees in her church and enjoyed helping others in and out of the church. She also enjoyed working with the Red Cross and the American Cancer Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. McQuinn; her parents; her brothers, Ernest B. Childs, Jr., and Randolph Childs; her sister, Loreen Childs Fulcher; two brothers-in-law, W.M. ""Bill"" Fulcher and L.D. Hill; and her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Hurt Childs.
She is survived by her daughters, Charlotte I. (Dan) Hickman and Sandra K. (Rick) Ladner; six grandchildren and one great grandchild; two sisters, Jewell Childs Hill and Frances E. Childs; one brother, Jack D. (Lillian) Childs; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 20, 2013, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi, MS, at 10 a.m. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services.
Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Handsboro Baptist Church, Designated Funds, 1421 E. Pass Road, Gulfport, MS 39507.
