Emma Copeland

Emma Laura Copeland, age 90, a resident of Gulfport, died August 13, 2015, at her home surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Copeland was a native of Forrest County and has been a resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast since 1950. Emma was a hair stylist and salon owner in Gulfport and Orange Grove for many years. She was a Sunday School teacher for 58 years and at the present time was a member of First Baptist Church of Lyman. She loved her family and church family, the ladies of her Sunday school class, and was very special to her as were many across the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Ida Ladner, four brothers, granddaughter, Judy McMillan, and her beloved husband, Claude Copeland.
Survivors include her children, Charles (Barbara) Copeland, Alice (Kenneth) Sumrall, and Sue Rouse, her grandchildren, Kenny (Ida) Sumrall, Joey (Ramona) Spiers, Teddy (Denise) Sumrall, Chuck (Lynn) Copeland, Mike (Shirley) Sumrall, Laura (David) Walker, and Greg Copeland, 18 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren. She also wanted remembered, brother Wayne and wife Rhonda for being so special and longtime friends, also Brother Garland and wife Gail who she loved and appreciated so much.
Mrs. Emma loved the Lord with all her heart and she shared the love of Jesus with her family and everyone she knew. Emma's faith and love in Jesus Christ was a beacon and light to all that knew and loved her. She was the replica of Jesus' humble servant - Proverbs 31:10-28.
Visitation will be on Monday, August 17, 2015, from 6 - 8 pm at the RIEMANN FAMILY FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport. The funeral service will be at 11 am in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to thank the staff at Deaconess Hospice and her caregivers, Patrilla Bates and Destiny, for their special care of their mother.
