Emma Jean Bookout, born on November 30, 1931, passed away on April 28, 2025. She made a significant impact during her lifetime, especially through her career as a beloved worker in the cafeteria at Bel Air Elementary, nurturing the community's children with care and warmth.

Emma was an alumna of Perkinston Jr. College, where she laid the foundation for a life dedicated to service and community involvement. She was widely recognized for her contributions to the Eastern Star, where she held a tenure that brought her both pride and accomplishment. Additionally, Emma served as a dedicated volunteer for Garden Park for 13 years, the USO for 5 years, and was an active member of her local United Methodist Church.

Emma was not just defined by her service; she had a rich tapestry of interests and hobbies that enriched her life. She found joy in playing dominoes and cards and spent many weekends tending to her yard and nurturing her garden, creating spaces filled with beauty and life.

Emma was preceded in death by her husbands, Vernon Terrell, Charles J. Vierling, and Van Bookout; her son, Charles J. "Chucky" Vierling; her parents James M. and Emma S. Byrd, her brother Cecil Byrd, and her sister, Eloise Ballard. She leaves behind her cherished children: Paul Terrell, Glen Terrell, Celeste Campbell, Stacy (Randy) Paun, 9 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren who are grateful for the love and guidance she provided throughout their lives.

The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and administration of the Claiborne, whose compassion and care for Emma meant so much during her later years.

Visitation services for Emma Jean Bookout will take place on May 3, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Riemann Family Funeral Home in Gulfport, Mississippi. This will be followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 PM, and a Graveside Service will conclude the day's events at Evergreen Cemetery at 3:00 PM.

Emma Jean Bookout's legacy will be remembered with love and respect, as her contributions to family, friends, and the community resonate in the hearts of all who knew her.
