Emily Lewis Caudill, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother, went to her eternal rest with her beloved Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 9, 2013. Born Emily Lewis, she married Donald ""Dan"" Caudill in l940 and began a journey that took her from the hills of Kentucky to the beautiful shores of the Mississippi sound.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Rebecca Lewis, her brothers Roy, John L, and sister Alberta. She was also preceded by her son-in-law Larry Hamm, and daughter-in-law, Emma Dell Caudill. She is survived by her sons Gerald (Kerry), Archie (Janice), and Donald N. (Paula) Caudill, and her daughters Virginia Hamm (husband deceased) and Rebecca (Brad) Griffin. She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren and spouses, and numerous great-grandchildren.
Mother was a woman of the word. She was a grand lady, a servant of our Lord and Savior, and a rare example of His creation. She loved her church even though she was unable to attend in her last six months. Dr. Charles Stanley and Dr. Adrian Rogers were two of her favorite television pastors. Sunday mornings when she could not go to church were spent watching sermon after sermon, and listening to Gaither Reunion music or hymns of the Faith.
An examination of Mother's Bible shows prolific note writing to herself and lists of people for whom to pray. Prayer sustained her while her husband spent 12 months in Korea and she was left far from family in Kentucky to care for three children, and while her middle son was in Vietnam, Poland and various posts during his 25 years in the Navy. She taught her children to know her Savior and to trust Him to guide their lives.
The family wants to extend special thanks to the women who spent many days providing excellent care to our mother. Patricia Rutland, Dorothy Barnes, Sherrell Green, and Irene Smith cannot be thanked enough for their care and concern. We extend grateful appreciation to Paul Cook, RN and Lisa Bissett, CNA, and Odyssey Hospice. Paul and Lisa provided physical, emotional, and professional help in a caring, and understanding manner.
Services will be held at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME on Three Rivers Rd. from 8:30-9:30 AM, Friday, April 12th with internment at Biloxi National Cemetery at 10 AM, with Pastor Rocky Everette officiating.
Pallbearers will be Josh Caudill, Ryan Caudill, Donald D. Caudill III, Chris Caudill, Matt Butler, Will Purvis, Brad Griffin, Mike Jordan, John Alliston IV, and Alex Kidd.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, gifts be made to Robinson Road Baptist church or the Alzheimer's Foundation, and an online guestbook may be signed at www.riemannfamily.com
