He was preceded in death by parents, Curtis Leon Bates and Neola Bell Davis, brother, Newton Bates, Charles Henry Bates, sister, Ethel Sand, Alice Fay Rhodes.
He is survived by Children, Luke, Mark, Paul, Peter and Charles Bates, Michael Simpson, sister, Jewell Nyblom, brother, John Rhodes, Clarence Bates.
Memorial service will be held Thursday, March 6, 2014 1:00 p.m. from RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport with a visitation at 12:00 p.m. until service. Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery, Biloxi, MS.
