Eleanor ""Ms. Ellie"" Kindred died September 29, 2015 at the age of 97 in Biloxi, MS.
She was the daughter of the late Walter and Cora Roth of Cape Girardeau, MO. She was educated in Cape Girardeau and was an active member of Central High School marching Pep Squad, the Tigerettes. She was active in Epworth League of Grace Methodist Church and Confirmed and Baptized at 15 years of age and became a member of the Church. Later she taught Sunday school and was active in United Methodist Church Women in Cape Girardeau. After moving to the coast she became a member of Mississippi City United Methodist Church, where she served as President and Treasurer of the United Methodist Women, and as Treasurer and Chairperson of Rebekah Circle. She was active in helping to organize the Country Bazaar.
Ms. Ellie was married to William E. Turner, Jr., who was killed while on active duty in World War II. She married Herb Kindred while still living in Missouri and moved to Bemidji, Minnesota and moved to Gulfport, MS in August 1961. She became the P.T.A. President at Mississippi City Elementary School.
She did Gray Lady volunteer work for Red Cross both in Missouri and Minnesota. After moving to the coast, she did volunteer duty in the Gift Shop at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport. She also was a Den Mother in Cub Scouts in Missouri and a Beta Sigma Phi Sorority sister and member of the Gold Star Wives.
Mrs. Kindred was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, Rowland, Charles, Vincent, Elwood, and Delvin; and two sisters, Marcella Buffington and Brenda Shannon; and her husbands, William E. Turner and Herb Kindred.
She is survived by her four children, Patricia Kornegay of Biloxi, Bill Turner (Judy) of Broken Arrow, OK, Michael Turner of Biloxi, and H. Steven Kindred (Christy) of Huntsville, AL; her four grandchildren, Amanda Bolin (Anthony), Adam Kindred (Haley), Paul Kindred, all of Huntsville, AL, and Victoria Eleanor Turner of Helena, AL; and three great-grandchildren, Summer and Braxton Bolin, and William Steven ""Billy"" Kindred, all of Huntsville, AL. She is also survived by her brother, Frank Roth (Patricia) of Camarillo, CA, and many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, all of whom she dearly loved.
A family reunion was held in November 2002 and was enjoyed by all. In 2007 she enjoyed a 90th birthday party celebrated by all who loved her. She will be missed by her family and many friends.
The funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 5, 2015 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, Biloxi, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Gulfport.
