Mary Elaine Thibodeaux, age 83, of Long Beach, passed away on December 4, 2025 in Gulfport, MS.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Walter Thibodeaux; her mother, Lally Prevost; her father, Howard Prevost; and her beloved puppy, “Dixie.”
Mrs. Thibodeaux is survived by her children, Mary Anne (Scott) Rushing, Ernest “Buddy” (Gayle) Van Court, Gregory (Kelly) Landry, and Chad (Jeff) Landry; her step-children, Brian Thibodeaux, Julie Caskey, Keith Thibodeaux, and Laura Girior; her grandchildren, Jarred (Lindsay) Rushing, Clint Van Court, Sarah Van Court, and Seth Landry; her great-grandchildren, Tinleigh, Leighton, Deacon, Grayson, Weston, Oakleigh, and Timothy; and her special friends “The Ladies” – Phyllis, Jeanette, Conchetta, Mary Ann, Barbara, and Fay.
She was born in Biloxi and has been a long time resident of Long Beach. She attended Sacred Heart Academy in Biloxi and retired as Tour Guide at Oak Alley Plantation in Vacherie, LA. She was president of the Krewe of Xanadu where she served as Queen Xanadu in 1999. Mrs. Thibodeaux was a member of the Labadieville American Legion Auxiliary, Labadieville Community Fair Pageant, the Red Hat Society, St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, and was the co-owner of Cajun Florist. She enjoyed Diamond Art Painting, playing dominoes with “The Ladies” and spending time at family gatherings.
The family would like to thank her Mary Court neighbors that kept a close eye on her, the wonderful ICU nurses at Memorial Hospital at Gulfport, and her close friends David, Margie, Sandra, and Mel who always kept in touch with her.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, 720 E Beach Blvd, Long Beach, MS 39560, the Humane Society of South MS, 2615 Hwy 49, Gulfport, MS 39501, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, from 10 - 11:30 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 720 E Beach Blvd, Long Beach. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 am in the church. Interment will be in Long Beach City Cemetery.
