Eileen Cox Wilkerson, age 94 and a resident of Biloxi, died on Friday, November 28, 2014, in Biloxi.
In the heart of the Great Depression in 1932, the Cox family moved from Detroit, Michigan to Ocean Springs. She served in the U.S. Navy and was co-owner of Frasier's Nursery in the St. Martin Community since 1950. Mrs. Wilkerson was a charter member of St. John Episcopal Church in Ocean Springs where she was a Sunday School teacher, past president of ECW, a founding member of the Daughters of the King, and a member of the St. Mary's Guild. She was a lifetime member of the D'Iberville-St. Martin Historical Society and a past member of the Ocean Springs Bowling League.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Camellia Home Health and Hospice, Gloria Richmond, and Janice Kimble, for all their loving care and compassion shown to Mrs. Wilkerson and the family.
Mrs. Wilkerson was preceded in death by her parents, John & Alice Cox; her husband, E. Frasier Wilkerson; a son, Ralph E. Wilkerson and her sisters, Olive DeLeir and Marjorie Massey.
She is survived by her children, Barbara (Danny) Mabry, Doug (Peggy) Wilkerson, Carole (Clifford) Hermes, Lee (Silvia) Wilkerson, Janice Bellinger, and Ellen Wilkerson; her 14 grandchildren, Adam (Jodi) Wilkerson, Melissa Slater, Clay Mabry, Michelle (Luc) Nauts, Jason (Cari) Wilkerson, Lisa (Wayne) Tribble, Clifford Hermes, Jr., Rachel (Todd) Fayard, John (Angie) Hermes, Timothy (Kaitlyn) Hermes, Stephen Wilkerson, Kyle Bellinger, Patrick Bledsoe, and Katrina Bledsoe; her 20 great grandchildren, Abby, Alexander, Orin, Jacob, Austin, Samantha, Jennifer, Sean-Luc, Brieanna, Julie, Lucille, Miya, Ashliegh, Halle, Todd, Taylor, John, Lilly, Benjamin, and Rosalyn; and numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, great-great nephews, and great-great nieces.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2014, from 6pm-8pm at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 274 Beauvoir Road in Biloxi.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2014, at 11am at St. John Episcopal Church in Ocean Springs, where family and friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Ocean Springs.
