Ethel "Effie" Violanti, age 90, of Long Beach, passed away on March 5, 2018.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ida Schroeder.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Frank J. Violanti; a sister-in-law, Mary Deperto; her cousins, Jim and Marie Olson and Tammy Ulbricht; her nephew, Tony Capozzi; and other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Violanti was a native of South Bend, IN and attended Indiana University. She worked as an Executive Secretary to the mayor of South Bend and as Executive Secretary to two U.S. District Judges for the Seventh Circuit in Hammond, IN, and the U.S. Court of Appeals Judge for the Seventh Circuit in Chicago. After moving to the coast, she was an active Volunteer at Garden Park Community Hospital and Memorial Hospital at Gulfport where she served on the Auxiliary Executive Boards. She was a faithful member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am Monday, March 12, 2018, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 720 E Beach Blvd., Long Beach. Visitation will be from 9:30 - 10:30 am. Interment will be in the Biloxi National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the St. Vincent de Paul Society c/o St. Thomas Church.
