Edwin Pember Brown

Edwin Pember Brown, age 92, of the Helena Community, passed into glory at 12:30 AM Saturday Morning in Singing River Hospital, Moss Point, MS. Ed was born in Brookhaven, MS and lived most of his life on the Gulf Coast. He was a resident of the Helena community since 1977.
Ed was an insurance salesman and residential home-builder but was best known for his work in the service of Jesus Christ. Ed spent the last 35 years of his life starting, serving in and growing ministries. He proclaimed the gospel at prisons, drug and alcohol rehab centers, nursing homes and churches. He formed the Good News Ministries and involved many people in the work of the Lord. He was a member of the Gideons for 31 years, working to distribute the Bible to all that would have it.
Ed was preceded in death by his daughter, Gwendolyn, his sister Sarah, his brother Fred Jr., his mother Selena and his father Fred Sr. He is survived by his wife Mildred, his daughters Dolores (Mike) Higgins, Towana (Charles) Smith and Schewida (James) Farragut, and his son Dean (Rie) Brown. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9 AM to 11 AM on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Helena Presbyterian Church, 10401 Saracennia Rd, Moss Point, MS 39562. The funeral service will begin at 11 AM in the church sanctuary. Entombment will in Crestlawn Cemetery, Ocean Springs.
Instead of flowers, to continue the gift of sharing God's word with others, the family prefers memorials to be made to Gideons International through the Gideon Card Program. Information can be found at www.gideons.org and there will be cards available at the service.
