Edward Griffin Willis, Sr., age 76, of McHenry, passed away on April 15, 2012.
Mr. Willis was born in Mc Henry and was a resident of the Coast all of his life. He previously worked for Dedeaux Packing Company, Dairy Fresh Milk Co., and Golden Flake Chip Co. He was a hardworker and was always busy helping others. He loved sports, especially the Saints. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church in McHenry.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley Elijah Willis and Mattie Lee Reaves Willis; brothers, Johnny Willis and Raymond Willis; and sisters, Georgia Reed and Pansy Whitebread.
He is survived by his wife, Delores L. Willis of Perkinston; his children, Regina Leslie Blackstock of Pass Christian, Edward G. Willis, Jr. of Gulfport, Willie Raymond Willis of Gulfport, Johnny Willis of Gulfport; his 4 stepdaughters;his sisters, Imogene Barnes of McHenry, Nora Cowgill of Tucson, AZ, Eula Mae Willis of Birmingham, AL; 24 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2012, at Unity Baptist Church, Highway 49, McHenry, from 1:30-3:00 pm. Services will be held at the church at 3:00 pm.
Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
