Edward ""Danny"" Wenerski, age 82 passed away December 12, 2012 in Gulfport. He was born June 24, 1930. He grew up in Biloxi and went through the Biloxi School System. Danny was raised in the Catholic Church and was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Gulfport for most of his life.
After school, he joined the Merchant Marines and in August of 1950 he joined the 11th Air division of the Army Paratroopers. He returned to Biloxi after a brief military career to care for his parents. Once back in Biloxi, he began working as a commercial fisherman, traveling the world fishing and transporting seafood. Danny captained many boats, running a seismograph ship at one point, sailing them to different ports in different countries. Once Danny retired from the water, he went to work with the Harrison County Road Department and Sand Beach Department.
Danny enjoyed football and car races. Most of all he was an excellent cook and had a love of entertaining cookouts for his family and he had definitely perfected seafood boils.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Wenerski and Susie Parker Borries Wenerski; first wife, Lorena Boudreaux Wenerski; siblings, Doris Borries Gospodinovich, Thelma Borries Keachie, Oscar Borries, Edith Wenerski Parsons, and Edna Wenerski Kiss.
Survivors are his children, David Wenerski Sachs (May) of Glen Burnie, MD, Tronya Wenerski Ross (Duane) of Long Beach, MS and Rayna Wenerski of Gulfport; grandchildren, Britton Ross and Koby Ross; and several nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
A prayer service will be held at 11:30 am, with a visitation for family and friends from 10:30 to 11:30 am, Monday, December 17, 2012 at St. James Catholic Church in Gulfport. Burial will follow at Southern Memorial Park in Biloxi.
