Edward Stephen Bisner, age 76, passed away on Friday, September 6, 2013 at his home.
Mr. Bisner was a native of Albany, New York. He graduated from Schenectady High School and he graduated with highest honors with two Associates Degrees from State Technical Institute of Memphis.
He served in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years as a Pharmacy Specialist; then in the U.S. Navy for 16 plus years as a Navy Corpsmen, attached to the 3rd Marine Division. He served aboard the USS Forrest P. Sherman and the USS Forrestal.
Mr. Bisner retired after 25 years as a HVAC Technician at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.
He enjoyed automotive hobbies, camping and hiking and his 3 sons, especially his youngest who is a TBI survivor.
Mr. Bisner was also involved with the Fleet Reserve Assn., USS Forrestal Assn., American Assn. of Hospital Corpsmen, the Knights of Columbus for 40 years and the Boy Scouts for 40 years.
Mr. Bisner was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert F. Bisner, Jr. and Jeanette Frances Bisner; and his brother, Edward Adam Bisner.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Lorraine Bisner; 3 sons, Edward Bisner Jr. & wife Susan, Thomas W. Bisner and Michael S. Bisner; 5 siblings, Donna Bartels of Kerrville, TX, Francis Bisner of San Diego, CA, Gilbert Bisner & wife, Deb of W. Charlton, NY, Jack Bisner & wife Betty of Schenectady, NY and Dawn Meier of Summerfield, FL; 3 grandchildren, Cynthia Bisner of Nashville, TN, Christopher Bisner of Springfield, MA and Matthew Bisner of Ocean Springs, MS; and 2 great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Zephyra, both of Springfield, MA.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made in Ed's memory to the Alzheimer's Assn. (www.alz.org).
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 11, where friends may visit one hour prior, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 10446 Lemoyne Blvd., D'Iberville.
Burial with military honors will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
