Edna May Grantham, 93, passed away in Gulfport, MS on Sunday, September 28, 2014. Born August 12, 1921, Mrs. Grantham was the only child of the late Jerrold Farrington Dickey and Edna May Conrad Dickey.
A native of New Orleans Mrs. Grantham graduated from Eleanor McMain High School where she taught dance her senior year. She obtained a B.S. degree in zoology with a minor in chemistry from Louisiana State University. She was married to the late Troy Tilden Grantham, Sr.. Before having children, Mrs. Grantham worked for Hollingsworth and Whitney Paper Company in Mobile, AL as a laboratory technician. She and her husband Troy moved to Gulfport in 1947.
Mrs. Grantham was a former member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), The Gulfport Yacht club, the U.S. Power Squadron Auxiliary, Mississippi Gulf Coast District and the Episcopal Church Women (ECW) at St. Peter's-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church.
She is survived by five children- Edna May ""Coco"" Grantham Pittman (Ted) Dallas, TX, Sharon Grantham Kepper (Bill) Tallahassee, FL, Sylvia ""Pat"" Grantham Hearn (Lantie) Atlanta, GA, Troy Tilden ""T.J."" Grantham, Jr. (Susan) Gulfport, Jerrold ""Jay"" Grantham Baton Rouge, LA; 9 grand children and 15 great grand children.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014 at St. Peters By-The- Sea Episcopal Church 1909 15th Street, Gulfport, MS 39501 (288)863-2611. A time of visitation with family and friends will take place at the church one hour before the service.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Peters By-The-Sea Episcopal Church.
