Edith Babb Skinner

Edith Babb Skinner, age 83, of Biloxi, went home to be with her Lord, January 5, 2014, on the eve of her 58th wedding anniversary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Skinner, Sr., her only true love, her parents, Raymond and Mabel Babb, and her siblings, George Babb, Raymond Babb, Jr., Frank Babb, Virginia Doolin, and Patricia Noel.
Survivors include her children, Deborah Skinner Saffell and her husband Brian, James L. Skinner, Jr. and his wife Patricia, Darlene Skinner McInnis and her husband Donald, Raymond Madison Skinner and his wife Pamela, and Frank James Skinner and his wife Dara, her sister, Lillian Babb Chick, 2 sisters-in-law, Kathleen Bowman and Mary Jane Rayhel, 9 grandchildren, Heather Garcia, Kaleb Saffell, James Lee Skinner, Jarred Skinner, Jennifer Lynd Broadus, Jacob Nathaniel McInnis, Emily Skinner, Amanda Touchette, and Jordan Skinner; 2 great grandchildren, Joshua McKee and Katie Scarlet Broadus; and other relatives and friends.
She was born in Saugus, MA and was raised in Center Strafford, NH and after high school entered the U.S. Navy serving during the Korean War. She retired from the Biloxi School System as a cafeteria manager after more than 20 years of service to the children of the city of Biloxi. She was a member of Abundant Life Christian Center in Gautier. Mrs. Skinner enjoyed oil painting, cake decorating, sewing, porcelain dolls, and loved to read her Bible.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 7, 2014, from 4 - 6 pm at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd., Gulfport. A memorial service will be held at 6 pm in the funeral home chapel.
Burial will be at 12:30 pm Wednesday in the Biloxi National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her husband.
Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in honor of the years of support Mrs. Skinner gave to children.
