Edith Mae Strock Penney, age 90, a resident of Long Beach, passed away on October 25, 2015.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John William Penney; her parents, Ross D. Strock and Edith Klein Strock; her daughter, Edith Irene Penney Kinard Alexander; and her sister, Irene Frances Strock Halpan.
Edith is survived by her children, Martha Marie Gibson, of Gulfport, David Michael Baxter (Charline), of Long Beach, John William Penney (Cathy), of Meridian, and Frances Louise Penney Davis (Wyatt), of Nashville, TN; nine grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
She graduated from nursing school at the age of 52, and was a psychiatric therapy nurse at the VA Hospital.
Edith was fiercely independent and loved traveling extensively in her later years. Prior to his death, she and her husband lived all over the world as a military couple.

There will be a funeral service on Thursday, October 29, 2015, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in Daleville Methodist Church Cemetery.
