Early Watson Cobb, Sr., passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at the age of 94. He was surrounded by family for his last days, at home. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, David Lee and Mary Daniels Cobb, his brother, David Lee Cobb, two sisters, Christine Bryant and Doris Adcock, and his older daughter, Charmagne Cobb. He is survived by his wife, Linda Broussard Cobb, his daughter, Cheryl Ann Cobb and her husband Sal, and his son, Early W. Cobb, Jr, 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 3 great great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren.

He was born in 1932 in rural North Carolina, with neither electricity nor indoor plumbing. His father, a WWI veteran and sharecropper, instilled a strong work ethic in him. His mother provided a model, at home, in the fields with her husband, and, at night, her hands always busy, sewing or knitting. Very little was purchased in stores.

He served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean War and moved to New Orleans when discharged. He worked a full-time job and added a part-time job in the evenings at a wine shop. He tasted his first fine wine there and set out to learn all he could. He had a career in wine and was well known for his knowledge and skill, both at his store Maison du Vin and later as Director of Wine for Louisiana State Liquor Distributors, choosing fine wines for the top restaurants and hotels in New Orleans.

He was blessed with a love of learning and curiosity. His interest in computers began in the early days of personal computers, in the late 90’s, learning web design to create pages for family photos on-line and went on to learn database design. He was self-taught in woodworking, later pursuing art, ancestry, and written stories and lyrics from his life. He loved music, and in 2025 learned about AI to turn his lyrics into songs about his life, along with his songs of faith.

He was an amazing husband, father and grandfather, and was dearly loved. His life spanned nearly a century, from rural life to jet airplanes, man’s first moon walk, and smart phones.

He was dearly loved by family and friends, and cared for their comfort above his own, always trying to do his best and show appreciation for each effort for him. He loved the laughter of family and friends. He watched his children, grandchildren and even some of his great grandchildren grow to become adults. His presence will be missed, but the memories will be precious to all who loved him. We will celebrate and remember his special life and use his wisdom as a light to guide us now.
