Earlene Pace Wilson

April 15, 1938 — May 12, 2025

Ocean Springs

Earlene Wilson, 87, is remembered by her family as a loving mother and grandmother. Mrs. Wilson, who went to be with her Lord on May 12, 2025, was born in Columbia, MS, on April 15, 1938, to Rosa Mae and Luke Pace. She was the second daughter and fourth of sixth children who grew up in the country in Marion County.

As a child and young woman, Mrs. Wilson enjoyed reading and spending time with her cousins and siblings. She moved from the county at 17, when she married her husband, Billy, to whom she was married for 56 years prior to his death in 2011. She lived in Cheyenne, Wyoming, where her first son was born; subsequently, Mrs. Wilson moved with her family throughout the US and to Wiesbaden, Germany, as her husband’s military service and job demanded, mothering three more children and becoming “MawMaw” to various children when she settled with her family in Ocean Springs.

Mrs. Wilson was an active member of McClellan Road Baptist Church as long as her health allowed, and she demonstrated quiet but deep faith as she navigated life’s challenges. She loved gospel music, was known for her prodigious green thumb and delicious cooking, was an avid reader and completer of crossword puzzles, and was the first to guess the correct answers to “Wheel of Fortune” puzzles.

Mrs. Wilson is preceded in death by her husband, Billy; her brothers, Luke, Mark, Edward, and Austin; her sister, Bobbie; and her sons, Steve and Marty.

She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Lukow and Tracy Parker (Ken); eight grandchildren: David, Jackie, Bonnie, Meagan, Dakoda, Victoria, Jordan, and Katherine; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of people whose lives she touched with love and compassion as a friend and “MawMaw.”
