Douglas Eugene Washer

d. November 16, 2016

Douglas Eugene Washer, 54, of Biloxi, MS passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2016 in Gulfport.
Douglas was born in Biloxi, MS and was a resident of the coast most of his entire life. He was a graduate of Biloxi High School and had other advanced training. He was taken throughout the southeastern United States and as far as Alaska in his early life during his years in food service management. Later in life he enjoyed his time locally while with Riemann Funeral Homes, Harrison County Sheriff Department, and Casino Magic, until he was no longer able to work. Many continuing friendships were formed during his working career. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Cyril A. Washer, Jr and Leontine Z. Washer, two brothers, Cyril A. Washer, III and Raymond D. Washer, two sisters, Kathy L. Heaton and Sharon A. Miller.
Survivors include four sisters, Patricia A. Ward of Mary Esther, Florida, Carolyn S. Dailey of Navarre, Florida, Mary ""Beth"" Fields of Long Beach, MS, and Barbara A. Cohen of Marietta, Georgia: three brothers, David J. Washer of Biloxi, MS, James T. ""Tommy"" Washer of High Springs, Florida, and Michael F. Washer of Gulfport, MS, and many loved brothers in law, sisters in law, and nieces and nephews.
Doug was an avid fan of Mississippi football and the New Orleans Saints. Although he had his favorites, he was right there supporting them, win or lose. Doug also loved playing politics from the city to the national level. He took great pride in trying to ""straighten things out"" in the local and state political arena. He would compose a letter or editorial in a heartbeat. He managed to get a lot accomplished by his ""poison pen"" as one of his friends stated it. He will probably be greatly missed by many city, county, and state officials.
Doug was a good, kind and loving man. He treated everyone fairly as he wanted to be treated. He did not, however, have an abundance of patience. Many found out the hard way. He loved his family and friends and kept in touch with everyone. Doug will be deeply missed by all of us.
A visitation will be held on Monday, November 21, 2016, from 11:00 AM until 1:30 PM at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi.
