Douglas Keith Lee, Sr.

Douglas Keith Lee Sr. of Saucier, MS, passed away in Gulfport on Friday, May 12th, 2023. He was born in Pearl River County, MS on November 22, 1935.

Douglas was a successful business owner and had a very fulfilling career. He served as a Captain of a shrimp boat for over three decades before switching to truck operations and battery sales. Later he became the owner of an Environmental Protection Agency and provided service for tire disposal and hauling.

He had many hobbies and interests which included fishing, driving, and traveling. Douglas enjoyed attending meetings at the Kingdom Hall, listening to bluegrass music, as well as watching western cowboys on repeat. He cherished Elvis's music, particularly, "I Did It My Way." He loved eating cornbread and Spinach, Butterfingers, Three Musketeers, thin banana milkshake without whipped cream, but most importantly banana pudding.

Throughout his life, some of his proudest accomplishments included being labeled "Captain" on the boat he served on for many years as well as "Grandfather of the Year!".

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Joan Frances Lee; children: Ollie Elosie "Punkin" Caldwell (Steve), Theresa Ann Wooden, Shirley Balog (Bill), Mary Verrett (Gary), Elosie Ann Lee (Steven Bennett), Douglas Keith Lee Jr. "Dougie" (Nermine Hannah), Jonathan Nathaniel Lee (Betty Ash); Tammy Rice, Diana Patrick, Miryah Dawn Lee, Cheyenne Star Lee, and Nathaniel Lee; grandchildren: Miryah Dawn Lee, Cheyenne Star Lee, Nathaniel Leon Lee, Isaac Johnson , Dr. Hannah Johnson Dearworth , Donald Suire Jr., Brian Anthony Suire , Savannah Verrett, Phillip Suire , Joey Suire, Meliss Perkins (Aaron), Jennifer Seymour (Luke), Ashley York, Beverly Terrel, Priscilla Dion, Angela Caldwell, Cherrie Young , Billy Young, David Young, and Joseph Ryan; 44 great-grandchildren; 25 great-great-grandchildren; other relatives: Gayle Herbert and Carol Herbert "Cowboy" and their eight children Thisa, Rachel, Carroll, Sarah, Asia, Taylor, Lyric and Levi. He will also be lovingly remembered by his cousin Bobbydin; and other relatives Ivy and Angela.

Douglas was preceded in death by his parents Julius N. Lee Sr. and Ollie Frances Lee, and his siblings Elouise Berniece Lee-Smith, Julius N. Lee Jr., Shirley Carr Lee, and Carlie Madison Lee.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 19th from 10:00 AM -11:00 AM at the Riemann Family Funeral Home in Gulfport, MS with the funeral service immediately following at 11:30 AM at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness, 14469 Old Hwy 49, Gulfport, MS.

Douglas Keith Lee Sr.'s life journey has ended but his memories will continue to live on through all those who loved him dearly in their hearts forever.
