Sergeant First Class Douglas J. Landry, Jr., U.S. Army, Retired, age 88, of Ocean Springs, passed away on January 23, 2017, with his devoted wife, Lynda, by his side.
He was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Gloria Landry, 2nd wife, Magdelena Landry, 2 brothers, Dave Landry and Donald Landry, and a sister, Marion Landry.
Survivors include his loving wife, Lynda Landry, 7 children, Martha Del Boccio, Sheryl Gilliland, Robin Mitchell, Kymberle McElwee, Trudy Landry, Douglas J. Landry, III, and Andrea Landry, his step-children, Andrea Miller, Tina Bankston, Scott Taylor, Torria Dale, and Chad Taylor, 1 brother, Pat Landry, 1 grandson, Logan Landry, step-grandchildren, CK Miller, Anna Barrett, Hope Bardwell, Taylor Kendrick, Kye Taylor, Christian Taylor, Jackson Taylor, Drew Taylor, Emily Taylor, and his step-great-grandchildren, Banks Barrett and Nolan Bardwell.
Doug was born in New Orleans, LA and attended the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor, Texas. He joined the U.S. Army where he served in Germany, France, Kentucky, Alabama, Illinois, and Texas. He served in the Korean War where he received 1 Bronze Star and then served two tours of duty in the Vietnam War where he received 2 Bronze Stars. Mr. Landry was an expert marksman and received numerous commendations and medals. He retired after 25 years of honorable service in the Army and continued working for the U.S Postal Service for 15 years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:30 pm Thursday, January 26, 2017, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Ocean Springs. Visitation will be from 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm. Burial will be in Crestlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
