Douglas Keith ""Doug"" Buchanan, age 73, of Gulfport, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2013, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Mr. Buchanan was born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, to Keith McKee and Kathryn Tingen Buchanan. He spent his early working years in Cuba, Venezuela, Nigeria, and other nations assisting them with building a sustainable poultry business. In his later years, he oversaw the construction of several condominium and office complexes throughout the U.S. He was a gifted builder and loved to travel. Having married a Mississippi girl, he settled on the Gulf Coast in 1993, where he enjoyed fishing, boating, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Jerry Buchanan of Gulfport; his children, Todd Buchanan and his wife, Babsie, of Tampa, FL, and Joel Buchanan of Gulfport; grandchildren, Riley, Ashton, Carly, and Abigail Buchanan; and his sisters, Nancy Buchanan of Windsor, Ontario, and Jane Woolsey of London, Ontario.
