Dorothy L. Breland Simmons

Dorothy L. Breland Simmons, age 70 of Gulfport, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2015.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Olen Breland and Floy Breland and her grandparents, Charlie and Sally Barnes and Melvin Breland Sr. and Hattie Breland.
Dorothy is survived by her former husband, Harvey G. Simmons; her children, Russell Simmons and his friend, Debbie Faye of Gulfport, Alisa Powell and her husband Phillip of Gulfport, and Regina Dufrene and her husband, Gene of Gulfport; her grandchildren, Kendall Simmons and his companion, Trisha Thompson, Blake Dufrene, Nathan Simmons, and Chris Simmons; and her great grandchildren, Makenley Simmons and Colt Simmons.
Dorothy was a devout Christian and a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church where she loved her church family and friends. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother.
Dorothy worked for the Harrison County School System for many years and retired after 30 years of service as a secretary for Farm Bureau.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 2015 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
