Dorothy Murray

Dorothy L. Murray, age 91, passed away on September 7, 2022.

Mrs. Murray was born on March 11, 1931, to Peter Sampson of Greece and Irene Cavallas Sampson Perronne of Mississippi.  She spent her entire life in service, caring for others and, along with her husband, worked tirelessly building her families’ fishing and seafood businesses.  Many will remember her beautiful and welcoming smile as she never met a stranger.  She belonged to Broadmoor Baptist Church where she regularly attended.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 50 years, James S. Murray, Sr, and her son, James S. Murray, Jr.

She is survived by her son, G. Lawery (Tina) Murray, I of Macon, GA, her sister, Tina (Don) Martin of Gulfport, MS, her four grandchildren, Heather (Sarah) Murray, Amber (John) Toel, Analea Murray, George L. Murray, II and 5 great-granddaughters.

A small graveside service will take place 2 pm on Monday, September 12, 2022 at Evergreen Gardens Cemetery for family members.

Dorothy loved all animals, so, in lieu of flowers, one could donate to an animal rescue or Humane Society of their choice in her honor.
