Dorothy Ione Gibson, born on May 17, 1940, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2026, in Gulfport, Mississippi. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Dorothy’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, dedication, and joy.
Dorothy graduated from high school and embarked on a career at Arkport Central School, where she touched the lives of many through her work. Her commitment to her community extended to her spiritual life as a devoted member of Riverside Baptist Church, where she found strength and fellowship.
Known for her warm spirit and lively heart, Dorothy loved playing cards, Bingo, and board games, filling her days with laughter and friendly competition. She also embraced the thrill of skiing, an activity that brought her great joy and adventure.
Dorothy's family was the cornerstone of her life. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Robert Gibson, who stood by her side through the years; her children, Steve Curry (Ann) and Jeffrey Curry (Mary Alice); her cherished siblings, Kathy Twombly and Susan Willard. Her home was made complete by countless grandchildren and great-grandchildren—Brandon Clark, Samantha Hale, Michael Curry, Shawn Clark, Sabrina Curry, Elizabeth Curry, Olivia Bellemore, Travis Curry, Krysten Curry, Trevor Curry, Emily Curry and her great-grandchildren Ethan Clark, Tyler Clark, Samantha Clark, Emerson Clark, Caleb Clark, Gina Hale, Elliot Bellemore, Matthew Bellemore, Dylan Curry, and Olivia Wright—each a testament to her enduring love.
Though Dorothy’s parents, Harold and Helen Brown; her brothers, Harold Brown, Jr. and David Brown; and two of her children, Patricia Clark and Robert Curry; her great granddaughter, Patricia Clark passed on, their memories live on through Dorothy’s stories and the love she shared with everyone around her.
Dorothy’s life was a beacon of compassion and joy, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her family takes comfort in the indelible mark she left on their hearts and in the knowledge that her spirit will forever be a part of their lives.
