Doris S. Peterman

Doris S. Peterman, age 91, passed away on August 14, 2013 peacefully in her sleep at home. She was born to George and Ruby Stoessell in New Orleans, LA on October 20, 1921, but lived most of her life in Gulfport.
Doris was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, never too busy to help her children with their projects, babysit sick grandchildren or help a friend. She was straight forward and wouldn't hesitate to express her opinion, but if you needed help she was available. Her hobbies were dancing, gardening, refinishing furniture, and cooking for family and friends.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Julius E. Peterman; her son, Jerry E. Peterman; her biological parents; her adoptive parents, Oscar and Dora McCabe; her brother, George Stoessell; and her sister, Louise Crespo.
Survivors include her daughter, Jewel P. Lacy (Bill) of Gulfport; her grandchildren, Mark Peterman (Beth) of Auburn, AL, Doug Peterman (Pam) of Hattiesburg, Kevin Peterman (Wendy) of Biloxi; her five great grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 3:00 PM at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd., Gulfport, with a visitation for family and friends from 1:30 PM until the service. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Gulfport.
