Doris Langton

September 1, 1925 — April 5, 2023

Long Beach, MS

We have lost an amazing Mom, Grandma, Gram, Gigi, friend, and woman.  Doris Cogdell Langton passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, three weeks after having hip surgery and a stroke.  She resided at Charter Senior Living of

Panama City Beach surrounded by compassionate angels on earth.

Doris was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on September 1, 1925.  She was preceded in death by her husband, George Edward Langton, and her son Kerry Michael Langton.  Doris is survived by her son Edward Joseph Langton, his wife Lynda; her daughter Julie Langton Hale, her husband James; her grandsons Lance Edward Langton & Jared Michael Hale, his wife Mariah; her granddaughters Lauren Michelle Langton and Jamie Ann Hale; her great grandsons Lawson Edward Langton and Luke Christian Langton; and her great granddaughters Leighton Belle Hale and Lorelai Grayson Hale.

Doris had an incredible impact on everyone she met.  Her strong Christian faith and love of others was contagious.  Her motto, "The answer to everything is LOVE," was displayed in her daily actions and words.  Doris loved to share her poetry with everyone on all kinds of special occasions and she was an avid reader of the Bible and all Christian books.  She not only read these Words but lived them as well.

Her parting words in a letter written by Doris stated that “Life is precious and should never be taken lightly.  Death is part of life.  When we love God and believe in and trust Him, we accept that the end of human life is the beginning of eternal life with Him.”  Her parting message was that she prayed that each one she loved will feel God's presence every day and feel loved and secure in His love.

Doris went to secretarial college and was a personal secretary. She was a member of the Elk's Club in Gulfport, Ollie in Hattiesburg, and she loved to dance.
