Donnie Eathen Hartley, age 65, a resident of Lucedale, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2016 in Gulfport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie Edward Hartley and Nadine Joyce Young Hartley; his brothers, Larry Edward Hartley, Ernest E. Young, and Benny C. Young; his maternal grandparents, Ernest E. Young and Anna Hall Young; and his paternal grandparents, Lonnie E. Hartley and Gertrude Scoggin Hartley.
Donnie is survived by his sons, Eric (April) Hartley, Troy (Katie) Hartley, Casey (Elaina) Hartley; his daughter, Tammy Hartley; his grandchildren, Lara Hartley, Egan Hartley, Ike Hartley, Gavin Hartley, Maddie Hartley, Garrett Hartley, and Cameron Hartley; his siblings, Angie (David) Anderson, Bonnie Whaley, Faye Foltz, Evelyn Selph, Ann (Phil) Marlen, Randy (Jeanie) Young, Ronnie (Paula) Young, Dennis Young and their families.
Donnie was a legend among mortal men. He never met a stranger, once he walked up to you and firmly shook your hand, you knew you had just been introduced to a man that has been around the world, a few more times than you. You instantly wanted to know more, and you were about to.
Donnie was the man that men wanted to be. The father you wanted for you own, and if yours didn't measure up, he would gladly adopt you into the fold. He was Big Papa, The protector, The Leader of the Pack, The Straw Boss, The Motivator, The man, The Myth, The Legend.
Donnie Hartley was an incredible husband to his queen and loving wife, Mary Hartley. He made it his mission to make Mary feel beautiful and loved each and every day. He loves her. "" Always has, Always Will.''
Donnie served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a professional truck driver for 45 years with his Polish Princess at his side. Employed with Coach's Cedar Creek Farm in Lucedale. He loved storytelling, jokes, singing, fishing, hunting, motorcycling and spending time with his family and grandchildren. Donnie was of Christian faith.
