Donna Ruth Janus

On June 5, 2023, Donna Ruth Foster Janus passed away peacefully at the age of 86 at Gulfport Memorial Nursing Center in Gulfport, MS, after a battle with heart disease. Donna was a long-time resident of Biloxi, a loving wife to the late Edmund Janus, a dedicated mother to her children, Cyndi and Mark, and a fun-loving grandmother to her seven grandchildren. She was the daughter of Maxine and Howard Foster, a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and a good friend in her local community. In her younger days she was a stay-at-home mom and an avid arrowhead hunter. In her later years, she enjoyed mingling with friends and playing the slot machines at the local casinos. Always cheerful, she loved hearing about her children and grandchildren’s lives and in days past she was always up for a game of cards with them. She was very thoughtful, never forgetting a birthday or anniversary of her loved ones. She was absolutely thrilled to have been able to meet her first great-granddaughter, Chiara, at her 86th birthday celebration. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends. 

She is survived by her daughter Cynthia Anne Hall (Mannie), her son Jonathan Mark Janus (Dianna), her seven grandchildren, Anne Bailey, Mark Brennan, John Cameron, and Mary Delaney Hall, Anthony Michael (Katie), Alyna-Marie Danielle, and Andrew Kolten Janus, and her great-granddaughter Chiara Lucia Janus. 

A private funeral Mass in her honor will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, on June 10th at 11 am. At a later date, She will be interred at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Franklinton, LA along with her husband of 48 years, Edmund, to join her mother, Maxine Smith Foster, her brother Howard Stephen Foster and her sister Marilyn Sue Foster Tarwater who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her father Howard L. Foster. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made in her memory to the American Heart Association.
